Crystal Gayle (born Brenda Gail Webb on January 9 , 1951 in Paintsville , Kentucky ) is an American country music singer who was one of the most successful artists in her genre in the 1970s and 1980s. She was overshadowed by her sister Loretta Lynn for many years before hitting the big time with country-pop songs. Gayle has received 11 Grammy nominations over her 50-year career and once won Best Country Singer for Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue . To date, she has sold over four million albums in the US alone and had over 50 hits on the country charts.
